About Your Chiropractor
Dr. Emily McKenzie, D.C.
A chiropractor since 1995, she opened Lorena Chiropractic with one mission: to bring this community a warmer, education-first kind of care, the kind that treats you like a neighbor, not a number.
For more than 30 years, Dr. Emily has believed that good care starts with listening. Before any adjustment, she takes the time to understand your story, your goals, and what daily life actually feels like for you. She is here for the long haul, for the whole family, building real relationships and helping people in Lorena feel their best and stay that way. No rushing, no pressure, no upselling. Just honest, hands-off-the-clock care that fits your life.
Her Story
More about Dr. Emily
Dr. Emily became part of Waco healthcare providers in 1995 when she began serving residents in the Waco area, where she continues doing the work she finds so rewarding. "The thing I like most about being in the chiropractic field is helping people find relief from mild to severe pain without the use of drugs or surgery. It's gratifying to educate patients that chiropractic finds the root cause of pain and problems so the body can use its innate intelligence to stay in a state of true health."
Dr. Emily, as she is known to patients, grew up in Marshall, Texas but had family in Waco and visited the Heart of Texas regularly as a child. She has ancestral roots in the early years of the Waco Tribune Herald, Providence Hospital Cardiology unit, St. Mary's Catholic church, and the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo. She enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband, their 5 children and spouses, and 9 grandchildren. She and her husband enjoy taking their grandchildren swimming, to the Cameron Park Zoo, and regularly to the Lorena City Park. Dr. Emily serves the community on the Lorena City Council, participates in church activities, and likes camping, hiking, traveling, and reading, especially for the book club she organized beginning in 2020, still going strong with an incredible group of women.
She went to Parker Chiropractic College to get her doctorate in chiropractic. Dr. Emily attended Texas A&M, where she majored in Community Health in the Biology Department and minored in Speech Communication. She even had a spot on Texas A&M's first organized dance team and performed at various campus events.
"My parents always took me to a chiropractor when I was growing up, for everything from a stomach ache to dancing injuries. I always understood that the main hardware and communication from the brain to the rest of the body came out of the spinal cord by way of nerves that exit in between the vertebral area, and an impingement could hinder those signals and cause symptoms elsewhere in the body. Restoring those signals is vital to healthcare."
In Case You Didn't Know
Dr. Emily loves her health, but she also loves bacon and keeps it stocked in her refrigerator at home. "It makes everything taste better, and the smell of freshly cooking bacon brings back such vivid memories of my youth and waking up to my mom and dad cooking breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. Both of my parents are now deceased, so in some weird way it makes me feel closer to them through memories."
If she could bring together any four people from history for a night of conversation, she would include Mother Mary, to have the conversation with the mother of all mothers, who has lived through the highest of highs and lowest of lows of motherhood; St. Paul, to hear them reminisce about Jesus' birth, life, death, and resurrection; Catholic theologian Dr. Scott Hahn, who would know what theological questions to ask them; and President John F. Kennedy because....who doesn't want to know?
Dr. Emily loves to travel. "I spent a summer touring Mexico with a Mexican symphony orchestra and our college choir, singing the mass in Latin through landlocked cities of Mexico from the capital to orphanages in small villages. I also spent time in Germany to see where my ancestors came from, and saw the Neuschwanstein Castle, where Walt Disney got the idea for Cinderella's castle. And I have been cliff jumping in Maui. But I still have a bucket list of places to go!"
What Makes Her Different
Her philosophy: feel good, and learn how to stay that way.
Most people meet a chiropractor only when they are already hurting. Dr. Emily wants to change that. Her practice is built around prevention, education, and friendly coaching, so care is something that keeps you well, not just something you reach for in a crisis.
Preventative wellness
Care that helps you stay well between flare-ups, the same way you keep up with exercise or dental cleanings. A positive choice, never a trap.
Education and coaching
Dr. Emily explains what she finds in plain language and teaches the movement, posture, and habits that keep you feeling good long after you leave the table.
The whole family, long term
From busy parents to active kids, she cares for the people you love and builds the kind of trusted, lasting relationship that good health is built on.

How She Works
Precise, hands-on adjusting that gets to the real problem.
Dr. Emily delivers a classic, hands-on adjustment with the firm, precise touch that comes from more than 30 years of practice. She finds the joint that is actually stuck and moves it, so you get a real correction instead of a quick once-over. If you feel nervous about the popping, tell her, and she will walk you through exactly what to expect first.
Every visit starts with a thorough exam before any care begins. She is honest about what chiropractic can and cannot do, and she will only recommend what she believes will genuinely help. You will always be listened to first, examined carefully, and given an up-front, plain-language plan.
Exam first
She finds the real problem
Every visit starts with a thorough exam, so the adjustment targets the joint that is actually stuck, not just where it hurts.
Then she fixes it
A precise, effective adjustment
A firm, skilled correction that does the job, with a doctor who has done this more than 30 years standing right beside you.
Nervous about the popping sound? Just say so. She will explain every step before she begins and make sure you feel comfortable.
